Passenger Boat On River Thames In London
This project was an exciting one. With the UEFA Euros 2016 starting on the 10th of June in 2016, our clients were looking for a well experienced company that was insured to install bespoke artificial grass for a theme event that was fit for the football championships.
With a handful of custom-designed sport pitches and attention to detail synthetic turf installers, ARTTRAGrass was the company that was chosen to transform this Typhoon Clipper Boat, which is owned by MNBA, into a mini football pitch.
Installation
The ARTTRAGrass team arrived bright and early as usual, and after a 20 minutes Health and Safety brief, we were escorted to the boat by the captain and engineers, who were so thorough and helpful. After loading all the Astroturf, adhesives, and materials onto the boat, the team were met with a film crew who were going to record the whole installation process.
We got cracking alongside the Green Carpet Events team, and worked nonstop, until it was all completed at approximately 10:25pm.
Problem Solving
The boat was measured up by another organisation and presented to ARTTRAGrass, who prepared all the rolls in the warehouse before the visit. On site, there were a few changes, and therefore the dimensions of the white artificial grass had to be altered to accommodate the changes. This seemed almost impossible, as the boat was supposed to restart service in 3 hours, and getting in more artificial grass in from our warehouse in Milton Keynes within that short period of time would be impossible. With his experience and skill, Eric was able to recalculate and use offcuts from the van and from under the seats (where it wasn’t visible to the general public) to resolve the issue and calm the panic.
